The Blue Star Brewing Company is THE home to Big Band Jazz in San Antonio.
Every Tuesday evening (except the occasional 5th Tuesday) from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM San Antonio's finest musicians
gather to perform big band jazz arrangements from the libraries of Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Duke
Ellington, Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, and even Glen Miller. In addition, the bands perform
compositions of contemporary big band arrangers.
On the First Tuesday, the Crimson Jazz Orchestra is led by George Briscoe. Featured instrumentalists in the band

On the Third Tuesday, the San Antonio Jazz Orchestra performs, co-led by George DeRocher,
Rick Horn and Dale Schultz. Featured instrumentalists in the band
include Adrian Luis - trumpet, Steve Smith - drums, (Bexar County Commissioner) Paul Elizondo -
saxophones, Tim McBride - lead/jazz alto, Tom King - jazz tenor.

On the Fourth Tuesday, the Prime Time Jazz Orchestra, led by saxophonist
and world traveler John Magaldi,
features music composed by local arrangers including Jim Mahaffey.
Recently added to the "regular big band lineup" is the Ed Sherry Big Band featuring
trumpet player Ed Sherry. The band is conducted by trombonist Mike Brumbaugh. This
