Featured Concerts at the Blue Star Brewery
In addition to our regular "First Friday - LIVE from the Deck" Concerts,
and the on-going Big Band Jazz and Swing Bands on Tuesdays (and now the second Wednesday as well),
the Blue Star Brewery frequently hosts specials shows and concerts in our Blue Star Brewery Back Room.
February is turning out to be "Concert Month" at the Blue Star...
- On Friday, February 15th, John Magaldi, leader of 4th Tuesday's Primetime Jazz Orchestra will host
For the Love of a Trombonist, a benefit for trombonists
Ron Wilkins and Mike Pittsley. Mr. Magaldi has promised several guests including Butch Miles, current
Count Basie Orchestra drummer, plus a new outstanding vocalist on the scene, Jackie Sotelo of San Antonio.
There will be two exciting shows - 7:00 PM & 9:00 PM. Admission is $15 per person and a percentage will
go to Ron and Mike to help with medical expenses. As is ALWAYS the case at The Blue Star Brewery
our Micro-Brew Beer and food from our extensive menu will be available.
- On Saturday, February 16th, The fabulous Mambo Kings, presented by Jerry Madrigal, conducted
by John Lopez, will present another in their series of exciting shows, playing the music
of the Latin Masters including: Tito Puente, Dizzy Gillespie, Mongo Santamaria, and Machito.
In addition to singers Leo Rodriguez and Lisa Clark, the Mambo Kings
will feature guest soloists trumpet player Mike Vax and Latin percussionist Memo Acevedo
who will be in San Antonio for the Texas Music Educators Association Convention,

- On Saturday, February 23rd, the Blue Star Brewery Welcomes the Gerry Gibbs' Thrasher Big Band for two shows at 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM. The cover is $10 per person.

Gerry Gibbs and his aggregation are true exponents of 'swing' with an
ensemble that is bop inspired with charts that move and groove
emphatically and a vocalist that can SING. This is a definite keeper for
all you connoisseurs of jazz at it's best.
Drummer / composer Gibbs (son of bandleader and vibraphonist Terry Gibbs,
along with conductor / trumpeter Adrian Ruiz, vocalist Joan Carroll, and other familiar
Blue Star faces, Rick Horn, Al Gomez, Jason Jones, and Morgan King will present two blistering
sets of their unique music. As always, Blue Star Brewery Micro-Brew Beer and food from our
extensive menu will be available.

Big Band Jazz at the Blue Star Brewery
The Blue Star Brewing Company is THE home of Big Band Jazz in San Antonio.
Every Tuesday evening from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM San Antonio's finest musicians
gather to perform big band jazz arrangements from the libraries of Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Duke
Ellington, Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, and even Glen Miller. In addition, the bands perform

The Blue Star Brewing Company participates in one of
San Antonio's on-going premiere events: Southtown's First Friday. Central
